What is Turmeric?




Turmeric is a part of the ginger family and is native to Southeast Asia, mainly grown in India. Its active ingredient is Curcumin, which gives the spice its vibrant yellow color. Turmeric is often used in Ayurvedic practices due to its potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Benefits of Turmeric for the Skin:



1. Corrects hyperpigmentation.

Turmeric contains the antioxidant Curcumin, which can reverse hyperpigmentation and fade skin discoloration. Making skin tone even and balanced, giving the skin a natural healthy glow.


2. Treats Acne-Prone Skin.

Reduces inflammation caused by acne. Turmeric's anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties can help acne-prone skin by decreasing the spread of bacteria on the skin. It can also remove redness from acne and scarring.


3. Anti-Aging Properties.

4. Lightens and Brightens Skin.

Turmeric is an incredibly versatile spice, from its healing properties to its

 ability to improve the skin's overall health. It can make a healthy and natural alternative to your everyday skin regimen.

Here is my go-to handmade organic turmeric mask. You can use the mask one to two times a week or according to your skincare needs. The recipe calls for organic ingredients but can be substituted with non-organic ingredients as well.


Ingredients:


  • 3 Tbsp - Organic Turmeric

  • 1 Tsp - Organic Greek Yogurt

  • 1/2 Tsp - Organic Honey

  • 1 Tsp - Organic White Milk (2% or Whole)

  • 1 Tsp- Cool Water


Directions:


1. Mix ingredients in a small bowl. Apply the mixture to a clean and dry face with a clean make-up brush or sponge. Leave on for 10 - 12 mins or until dry.


2. Thoroughly remove the product with warm water. Use your favorite cleanser to remove the mask, pat dry, and follow with your favorite moisturizer.


3. Store the mask in the fridge for up to 5 days. Use mask 1-2 times per week.
